Be aware of the type of extinguisher you are using to put out a fire

There a several different types of fire extinguishers, there are three main extinguishers. An APW extinguisher, air pressurized water, are for type A fires. Type A fires are fires involving wood, paper or cloth. Never use APW fire extinguishers to put out electrical fires or flammable liquid fires as you can accidentally spread the fire. To put out class B and C fires, electrical and flammable liquid fires, use a carbon dioxide extinguisher. CO2 extinguishers are red, where as APW extinguishers are silver. CO2 extinguishers can weigh anywhere from 5 to 100 pounds. One of the most common types of extinguishers are dry chemical ones. Dry chemical extinguishers have different types and are usually labeled. Some are just for dry chemicals, they will be labeled as “DC”. A dry chemical extinguisher with “ABC” labeled on them can extinguish type A, B and C fires. Then there are ones with just “BC” labeled on them, indicating they will only put out type “B” and “C” fires. Dry chemical extinguishers have fine yellow powder inside. These types of extinguishers work by covering the fire or fuel with a thin layer of dust and are also red. This types weigh 5 to 20 pounds.

Before using a fire extinguisher, ask yourself the following questions – Do I know how to use fire extinguishers? And can this fire be put out by an Extinguisher? This is a good question to ask, since extinguishers are not the end-all method for putting out fires. They are mostly used on small fires and contain a finite amount of extinguishing substance. Also, fire extinguishers are graded differently according to what type of fire they can put out. It’s no use using a metal-fire fire extinguisher on one that is designed to put out only oil-based fires. You should only use a fire extinguisher if the following conditions exist; the fire is small, you are safe from toxic fumes, others have been alerted to the presence of fire, and you have identified an escape route if things should get out of hand. Once these conditions are met, you should go ahead and put out the fire yourself.
PJs all the Way
I guess I technically still have my PJs on! I slept in shorts and a tank top, and haven’t had the need to change yet. The shorts are lime green athletic shorts and are nice and cool. The tank top is a plain white one. I have been wearing a lot of shorts and tank tops lately because it has been so hot and humid! I had on jeans and a t-shirt yesterday and I thought I was going to pass out. I will probably keep these clothes on until I take a shower tonight. I’ll put on a different tank top, but the shorts are good to sleep in again. Tomorrow I have school so I will have to dress for that. I need to dress in layers for school because air conditioning makes me chilly.

I Want Money
I am not a materialistic person, but if I could have anything right now it would be a lot of money. I could pay off all my student loans, buy my uncle a new car, take my mom on an Alaskan cruise and help out all my struggling friends. I know that money doesn’t fix everything or make you happy, but I could sure use some for good purposes. I used to have a really good job and not ever have to worry about money. So many people I know are very stressed out these days, and I would like to help. I would help fund the shelters in my area and buy food for people. I personally don’t want a lot of “stuff” but I would love to travel everywhere, and that takes money.
My Mom
I had a difficult childhood and did not get to spend a lot of time with my mom. We didn’t get to go on vacations or go shopping. About the only times we got to spend together was going to the grocery store and doing the laundry. Now that I am older, I get to spend a lot of time with her. We have gone on vacations to Maine, Michigan, Kentucky and many more places. We spend the weekends going to garage sales or flea markets. I love getting to do things with her and make good memories. She’s my best friend and vice versa. When she and my grandma and I get together we have a blast!

Keeping safe in my studio

My Mother recently took a loan to help me buy an apartment. I was thrilled as I had been longing to move out of home for a considerable period of time. I ended up buying a studio apartment on the third floor. The flat had magnificent views of the sea and city. I thought I would try something different and keep a fire escape window ladder on hand. A fire can break out any time in one of the flats so I thought I would be well prepared in the event of an emergency. I have not told anyone that I have one in my apartment.
Gardening with Grandma
When school was out over the summer, my brother and I would spend the days at our Grandma’s house. She lives out in the country and loved to garden. She had gardens all around the yard and crew flowers and vegetables. I loved to help her work in the gardens. I am told I was an excellent weed-puller. She knew what everything was called and how it would grow. I had to be very careful not to step on anything and to only pull out weeds and not flowers. She and I would wear silly garden hats and colorful gloves. We’d drink lemonade in the shade and drink from the hose.
I Love Books

My favorite pastime is reading. I don’t think I could live without books. I read an average of 3-4 books a week. I have gotten really into mysteries and thrillers in the past few years and I like interesting non-fiction too. I also love photography and spend a lot of my time out and about with my camera. I live in the country so it’s easy for me to go out and find animals and beautiful scenery to photograph. I am buying a kayak this weekend because I’ve really wanted to learn to kayak for a long time. I love being out on the water, and I think it will be very good exercise as well.
Late Night Food Run
My mom and I went on a quick run to get some dinner last night because we were too hot and lazy to fix anything at home. I was really craving fish so we managed to make it to Long John Silvers right before they closed. I really enjoy their fish sandwiches. I ate two and was very full. They made them fresh for me because they were about to close. They have really good buns and their tartar sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Tonight I think I’m going to make brown rice and veggies to help balance out all that cholesterol I had last night!
Working in a factory

I got a part time job at a factory. I often had to approach one of the supervisors who wore the vibrant colored fire warden hats. Their personalities could not have been more different. The fat one was nice and jovial. The slender one was often in a bad mood. It was best to stay away from the latter. At times I really loved my job at the factory as it was less demanding than my job at the hopsital where I worked as a nurse. I have been working at the hospital for over five years and kind of getting sick of it. If the factory job paid well I would take that job on full time.
